All of the magic of a tree house and the charm of a tropical hideaway, Ob Shanti will fulfill your vacation dreams! Enjoy sunset from the pool on the upper patio or coffee in the mornings on the balcony. You're only a few minutes walk to the beach and several local restaurants, or a bus ride to downtown!
Your private room is located off the second-floor patio with an en suite bathroom.
Bring your sunscreen and bathing suit, we have the rest - beach towels, toiletries, umbrella, hairdryer and much more!
Our property is quite unique. Created and built by two artists to fully enjoy the pleasures of indoor/outdoor living and to embrace the surrounding natural environment; “Ob Shanti” means “Bay of Peace” and its tranquility may also emanate from the fact that, historically, this property was consecrated as a Yoga Ashram.
The gardens and external areas do not disappoint. A Tibetan style stairway winds up through a terraced garden passing a shaded wooden seating and viewing area, a waterfall, and finally leading to a spectacular infinity pool with stunning ocean views from a hill top gazebo situated on one of the highest points on New Providence.
All guests have shared access to the pool, gazebo, hammock, balconies, and living room.
Interaction with guests
Often times one of us is home to help with anything you need. If we are not home you will find a guest manual in your room that will tell all you need to know. :)
Within a mile of us on either side are a number of different restaurants.
To the west you'll find Studio, Compass Point, and Dion's Conch Shack.
To the east is Travelers Rest.
The bus (10 or 12b) picks you up on West Bay and takes you to Cable Beach or downtown for a $1.50, where you can find grocery stores, more restaurants, bars, clubs, and beaches.
No need for a car here! The bus is just outside our door, traveling up and down West Bay St!
Bus is $1.50 per ride and will take you to both ends of the island - you'll be looking for the #10 and the #12b. Please note that the bus starts at 6 am typically stops running around 6:30-7pm, so you'll need to take a cab after that. Riding the bus is always an adventure from gospel music to disco!
If you choose to rent a car we have secure off-street parking.
Other things to note
We have two large dogs who live with us on the property, and they love to meet our guests as well! One is a Great Dane, the other is an older Boxer. They love hanging out with our guests.
**Hot water is VERY hot at first, so please be careful! **
Please turn off the AC when you are not in the room. Please also close the doors and windows when enjoying the air conditioner.
Absolutely no smoking on property or off property. We do not want guests to smoke while out and come to sit on furniture or sleep in the beds. The smell tends to stay behind for other guests. If we smell smoke you will be politely asked to leave.
Shawn and Christine are amazing hosts with an amazing home and two lovely dogs. They made our stay perfect, even amidst their own family visiting, they still made sure we were taken care of. Picture perfect location and supremely friendly people!
This place was beautiful Shaun and christine are lovely hosts and so welcoming and friendly Our flight got delayed and ended up arriving at 1.40am and they were so understanding and cool about it The place is perfectly located with a great coffee shop just down the hill and quiet away from the hustle and bustle from downtown \(^.^)/
The home is incredible. Fantastic architecture, immaculate, wonderful views, great hosts. I've found my home away from home in Nassau
Exactly what's advertised, and perfect for the solo traveler looking to explore.
Amazing house in Nassau, close to a local 'restaurant' with awesome jerk chicken and cheap local beer. Walking distance to Love Beach, my favourite so far, and 15 mins by bus from Downton (just 1,25$ per ride) Christine is so nice. They are great host
Shaun and Christine are super friendly and helpful. They will recommend where to go and what to do in Nassau. If you are a dog lover, Bell the great dane and Kimber their senior boxer will love you and welcome you into their home. They will even visit your room. We absolutely loved their home, it is gorgeous. The bus stop that takes you downtown is less than a block away. Very convenient location.
This was my first Airbnb experience, and Shaun and Christine's Ob Shanti delivered. I stayed in the Terrace Retreat, a room with windows opening to the lush tropical grounds and an en suite bathroom. The house is amazing, beautiful and rustic with breathtaking views of the turquoise Bahamanian ocean. The property is perched in carved, natural stone that felt like the island was embracing and protecting us. Shaun and Christine are very gracious hosts. Staying in someone's private home can be nerve wracking, but they were so easygoing and welcoming my experience was the opposite. I was so relaxed at the end of my three night stay that I was tardy for my gratis departure ride to the airport (sorry Christine if I made you late for work). It just happened that times for work and flight were close together. Prepare to pay for taxi to and from the airport. I paid $10 + $3 tip for taxi on arrival. Belle and Kimber, the dogs, are a delight :). Shaun and Christine are super awesome. I would recommend a stay at Ob Shanti to any of my closest friends and relatives!
Unique place with great hosts incl. dogs! Clean, well furnished with an outstanding infinitypool! Slightly far from Nassau Center (20 min. by bus) but close to Airport. Bus is extremely cheap 1.5$ but stops at around 7pm operates rarely on sunday. Taxi from Center aproximately 30$.
Beautiful house! Great pool with an unrivaled view. Welcoming hosts. Thank you for letting us stay with you!
The house is better than you can imagine!
